I. SPRING OPENING AT THE GÖNC HUSSITE HOUSE
April 25–26, 2026
The Gönc Hussite House Museum is joining the Open-Air Museums and Village Museums Day for the first time this year, with the aim of establishing a new tradition.
DAY OF TRADITIONAL FOLK COSTUME IN GÖNC
Saturday, April 25, 2026 | 13:00–16:00
The afternoon program presents “Our Folk Art Heritage of Northern Abaúj”, strengthens connections with twin settlements, and highlights the gastronomic cultural tourism values of Gönc.
Following the welcome speech by Mayor János Sivák, the program continues with an authentic zither performance by Kira Gyömbér and her teacher Etelka Sélley.
The zither has played a significant role in Gönc’s folk culture since the 19th century, preserving the memory of skilled village craftsmen and serving as an important element of local identity—traditionally accompanying both home festivities and communal work.
During the afternoon:
- Performances by the Abaúj Folk Tradition Ensemble
- Performance by the Gönc “Betyár” Folk Group
- Guided tour of the Hussite House Museum and Local History Collection (building, interior, and history)
Visitors can also enjoy:
- Traditional dish: “Gönc-style potato pancakes with ‘Betyár’ bacon”, prepared on a wood-fired stove
- Craft fair in the parking area opposite the museum
- Folk games in the courtyard
